Homemade Chai Tea

Serves 2

Ingredients

3 cardamom pods, smashed

1 vanilla bean, sliced and separated

3 whole cloves

2 whole black peppercorns

1 bag of black tea

1 cup of almond milk (I used unsweetened vanilla)

2 cups of water

1 tsp honey, raw and local

1 tsp cinnamon

1 inch of ginger, sliced thin

Directions

In a small pot over high heat, add water, all parts of cardamom, all parts of vanilla bean, cloves, peppercorns and

ginger. Bring water to boil, cover and simmer for five minutes.

Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes, add black tea bag and steep for 5 more minutes.

In another small pot, pour almond milk and heat on low for 5 minutes while black tea bag is steeping. Remove from

heat and set aside.

Place a mesh strainer over almond milk pot, and pour the tea into the strainer, catching the herbs and combining

the water and almond milk.

Add honey and cinnamon, stir and serve hot.

Makes two cups.
